My name is Connell and I am a senior at Worcester State University studying history with a minor in public history. Coming to Worcester State provided me with a lot of amazing opportunities. Being a Civic Leader Fellow will allow me to get involved in the Worcester community. For the past six years, I have been engaged in the community as a youth hockey coach. What started out as helping out a coach at my town’s Sunday learn-to-play and learn-to-skate program, grew into assisting development clinics. Now I am on the bench helping out where I can as both an assistant and head coach at every level of youth hockey. I love being able to give back to a sport that has done so much for me. Coaching has allowed me to have the incredible opportunity to remain involved in a sport I grew up loving, in a far more impactful role than just continuing to play, which I still do weekly.
