Nicolas Vanegas ’28Community Partner Match: YMCA – Boroughs Family Branch Hometown: Worcester, MA
I joined WCLP because I needed an opportunity that gave me the chance to work on my leadership skills in a way in which I can connect with the local community. My work with the WCLP gives me experience with community engagement, board service, and program building. I hope to work that impacts public health, wellness, and relations within the community. Currently I am a rising junior at Worcester State University majoring in biology with a pre-med concentration. My career goal is to become a physician; alongside my academics I balance working as an EMT and conducting research with Worcester State University Biology faculty. This upcoming school year I’ll be serving in the YMCA Boroughs board. I am beyond excited about this opportunity as it compliments my future career goals and it helps me get in touch with the community and be involved in their health and wellbeing.
