The program academic calendar will show when the registration opens for each term. In general, we open Summer registration in March, Fall Registration in July and Spring registration in early December. You are permitted to register initially without providing payment but you MUST be registered and pay your bill in full no later than 5pm on the Wednesday before each term begins. If payment is not received, you will automatically be dropped from your class(es), Please note that classes do fill up so you are encouraged to register as early as possible. If you believe you have Financial Aid in place for the term, be sure to contact the Financial Office if you have any questions (508-929-8056). We have provided a step by step set of instructions (with screen shots) to help you in the registration process. That document can be found here:
-
If you want to register for a class that is full (no open seats), you can email the instructor to ask permission to take the class. If they agree to overenroll the class, you will need to complete a registration form and send the registration form, along with a copy of the instructor’s email to DGCE@worcester.edu. Registration forms can be found here https://www.worcester.edu/continuing-education/courses-registration/.
- No. Since this is an accelerated program, you can not add into a class after the registration deadline (the Wednesday before the term begins). This includes students who are dropped out of classes due to non-payment. You will need to wait 8 weeks before the next term begins to register or re-register.
- No. Students in our 100% online accelerated degree programs must take their classes within the program (sections will be marked “AOP”). Students who are not in our 100% online accelerated programs are not eligible to take classes with the “AOP” course designation.
- Students who drop a class by the drop deadline will not see the course on their academic transcript and will have 100% of tuition reimbursed. When you withdraw from a class by the withdrawal deadline, the class will still appear on your transcript but with a grade of “W”. You will not receive a refund of tuition.
- Yes! We have one academic ceremony each year, generally the second Friday in May. Graduate degrees are conferred three times each year, in August, December and May, but there is only one in-person commencement ceremony. Students who complete their programs in August or December can request a transcript showing the completion of their degree. These students are invited to join the students completing in May at the Graduate Commencement & Hooding ceremony at the Worcester State University campus.
- Graduate students taking a minimum of 6 credits are considered to be full-time students. This is important for financial aid purposes. Graduate students enrolled in fewer than 6 credits are considered part-time.
-
Students who are considered full-time (6 credits or more) will automatically be charged for the university’s health insurance plan. Please be sure you are only paying for WSU health insurance if you need it. The health insurance premium is significant. It is an opt-out system rather than opt-in. If you do not need the university’s health insurance, please go to https://www.universityhealthplans.com/ to waive the insurance.
